A training band nurturing the growth and development of young musicians is something Besses Boys Band have encouraged for many year. Besses Boys Band, origionally a feeder band for the World Famous Besses o'th Barn Band in 1943 has developed some of the countries top musicians that have gone on to such bands as: Fodens, Brighouse & Rastrick, Yorkshire Building Society, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Halle Orchestra, National Youth Brass Band of Great Britain and Her Majesty's Band of the Irish, Welsh and Coldstream Guards to name a few.

The training band is supported by the ‘senior’ Besses Boys' Band who provide tutors and many opportunities for our young musicians to gain experience playing alongside the senior band at a higher level and eventually progress into the senior band full time.

Join Our Training Band

Currently, we are recruiting for players who can already play a little, so our vacancies will suit players who have been learning for about a year right through to more advanced players. We also have many opportunities for advanced youth players to progress into the senior band.

The training bands offers our time, our staff and our instruments for a subscription fee of £2.50 the education the young musicians receive is unrivalled, and all we ask is that members look after any instruments we loan out and commit to attending rehearsals and concerts regularly.

The training band rehearse on a Monday evening, 6.30pm to 7.30pm (except bank holidays) at our rehearsal room that can be  found on our Contact page.
